A lot of churches want to have a discipleship ministry or program in their church, but they have no idea where to begin. This course will fix that because it has been specifically designed for ministry leaders who want to teach their congregants how to fulfill the Great Commission. If you’ve looked for a curriculum to use, you will notice they are all basically the same. This course is broken down into twelve lessons that are designed to grow your members into mature disciples who can then make disciples of their own.
Lesson 1: Why Follow Jesus?
Length – 20:37
Jesus of Nazareth asked for radical dedication and devotion from His disciples. He said we have to carry a cross, be hated by all nations, face floggings and persecution and be willing to give up everything for Him. Is he worth it? Before I commit to something so radical I want to know some things first:
Lesson 2: I Won’t Follow a Dead Man!
Length – 29:28
Examine the evidence for the resurrection of Christ. The resurrection is the most important event in all of human history, and if it really happened, that means Jesus is who He said He was, and He’s worthy of your total devotion.
Lesson 3: What is a Disciple?
Length – 17:47
In this lesson we will examine what discipleship looked like in the First Century among the Jewish people.
Lesson 4: Following Jesus
Length – 14:14
In this lesson we will discuss the process of transformation that must take place as we grow as disciples. Christ is formed in us over time and we are to “grow up” and become more like Him.
Lesson 5: Transformation
Length – 25:11
This lesson will finally get into the mechanics of how to transform into the image of Christ. I will share with you some things you can do to cooperate with the Holy Spirit as He changes you from the inside out.
Lesson 6: Lord, Teach Us to Pray
Length – 26:04
The Gospels are full of examples of Jesus getting away to be alone with the Father! We should follow this example as good disciples!
What is prayer? What does it accomplish? How does one pray? All of these questions will be answered in a way that will help you develop this discipline in your life. If you put into practice the roadmap I give in this lesson, I promise you will find your destination in the presence of God.
Lesson 7: Come, Let Us Bow Down and Worship (Ps. 95:6)
Length – 25:48
As disciples, we are called to worship God will all of our being. This means living a worshipful lifestyle. If your idea of worship is singing a few songs on Sunday morning, you need to take this course to learn just how deep God wants to take you!
Lesson 8: The Holy Spirit in the Life of a Disciple
Length – 30:02
All disciples need to learn the role the Holy Spirit has in our lives. Some questions that will be answered in this lesson:
1. Is the Holy Spirit God?
2. Is the Holy Spirit a force?
3. Can disciples today perform miracles?
Lesson 9: The Love of God
Length – 28:09
God is love, and one of the most distinguishing characteristics of true disciples is their capacity to love the unlovable. This lesson will teach you how to tap into the infinite supply of love that was deposited into your spirit when you were regenerated.
Lesson 10: The Cross
Length – 28:20
Why did Jesus have to die such a brutal death on the cross?
We will examine justification, atonement, and redemption to understand why Jesus died. We will also discuss our cross we must carry as disciples to live a sacrificial life for the Master.
Lesson 11: Pursue Holiness
Length – 27:02
Disciples should be striving for holiness. God is holy, so His children should be holy.
